Recent innovations in SIM and SAP Digital Content Processing

Recently, OpenText presented the latest developments in SAP Invoice Management and SAP Digital Content Processing at the "Partner Deep Dive". Because of COVID-19, the planned meeting in Munich was changed to a very interesting 2-day virtual session.

SAP Vendor Invoice Management and SAP Digital Content Processing become one

SAP Invoice Management (SIM), also known as Vendor Invoice Management (VIM), is SAP's recommended SAP add-on for processing incoming invoices. SIM was developed by OpenText and is sold and supported by SAP. SIM helps streamline invoice processing and minimize risks. It helps Accounts Payable to better structure the processes around the creation, management, controls and routing of invoices within the organization. Further benefits are meeting payment deadlines, improving productivity and optimizing cash flows.

SAP Digital Content Processing, also known as Business Center (BC), builds on the success of SIM and does the same for all other incoming documents (such as incoming purchase orders or order confirmations). The ultimate goal is to transform these documents, validate them, enrich them and finally process them in SAP.

The two products are now combined under the SIM license. This means that organisations that already work with SIM, may also use the BC functionality to support entire end-to-end processes.

Ready for the future

It is clear that developments in the field of SIM and BC have not stood still.

Many Fiori apps have been added to make working with SIM and BC easier and 'mobile' for the end user.

Furthermore, the systems are easier to connect to e-invoicing platforms (such as Avelon E-Invoicing) and the functionality is ready for S/4HANA and (increasingly) Machine Learning and Robotic Process Automation.

In short, with SIM and BC you are ready to optimally support your processes. Avelon - Run your business smart & simple.
